A great way to get a feel of the true beauty of this wonderful region is by watching the fascinating Great British Railway Journeys. Presented by Michael Portillo, this great series follows a route around the country through the striking scenery that many railway lines traverse.
On Tuesday, the charming county of Somerset was explored
with the route going all the way from Yatton to Weston-super-Mare. Sampling local Cheddar strawberries, exploring the region's famous caves and visiting the newly rebuilt pier at Weston-super-Mare, the striking beauty of the area clear for all to see.

Wednesday's edition saw
Michael take in the charming English Riviera, finding out about Torquay's microclimate, going salmon fishing on the dart estuary and heads to Totnes to spend some of the areas currency-Totnes Pounds! Today's fascinating offering will be on BBC 2 at 6.30 pm, focusing on the final parts of the journey, visiting the last working tin mine in Cornwall, harvesting oysters on the Helford River and searching for the lost church of church of St. Piran.
