I love Cornwall. So, when I won a free holiday courtesy of Blue Chip, it wasn’t a difficult decision deciding where to go. We then had to choose the perfect property… Rosehendra! I had always liked this property, stylish finishing touches and beautiful décor made it look appealing in the photographs. And, when we arrived, on a very blustery Wednesday afternoon, we weren’t disappointed.
We were greeted by a bottle of fizz (which was swiftly put in the fridge to chill ready for the evening!) and a colourful jug full of fragrant daffodils. Despite the weather, spring had arrived.
Rosehendra is a beautiful stone barn conversion that has been thoughtfully decorated. There are beautiful furnishings in every room, from large planters to quirky sculptures and fantastic artwork across the walls; the barn had oodles of character and charm.
We (my husband and I) also chose Rosehendra because of its location, perfectly positioned between the north and south coast… Marazion to the south and St Ives to the north. It was also blissfully quiet, the only sound that came through the thick stones walls was the horses trotting by.
During our stay we visited some truly wonderful places, including St Ives, Marazion and Mousehole. All three we knew well, but we also discovered some new places.
I’d always wanted to visit Sennen Cove, and with the sun shining we decided to head down to the end of the country. Sennen is a gorgeous stretch of golden sands, that is a surfer's dream. There were a few people out on their boards, waiting patiently for the next wave in. There’s also a quirky gallery, quaint café and an award winning restaurant on the beach – Ben Tunnicliffe Sennen Cove.
On our way back to the cottage we decided to drive down a small country road and we stumbled upon the most picturesque of places, Porthgwarra. With an abundance of wildlife, crystal clear waters and an inviting cove, this is a magical place that we will certainly be visiting again.
We had a wonderful, relaxing break in this charming cottage. Would we recommend it? YES!
