It’s going to be a toasty Christmas in South Devon

If you're heading to Torbay this week you can ditch the winter woolies...

If you’ve ever visited our gorgeous South Devon then you’ll already know that it enjoys a pretty special climate, but I have to say, it’s looking like it’s going to be a very toasty Christmas even for this balmy corner of the world.

Those of you heading down to the English Riviera for a Blue Chip Christmas will no doubt have already done exactly what I did this morning and eagerly Googled the weather forecast for the week to be greeted with lots of highs of 13° – so it’s beginning to look a lot like a mild one this Christmas.

In fact, there are starting to be murmurings throughout Torbay of this being…wait for it…the hottest Christmas ever…gasp. According to the clever folk at Weather Underground, the hottest Christmas to sizzle the bay over the last two decades reached 10° back in 2011, and as the forecast is currently a very toasty string of highs of 13° for the week it doesn’t look like my prized faux fur hat’s going to be seeing the light of day anytime soon.

So it doesn’t look like we’re going to be welcoming a white Christmas and skipping around snowmen this year, but it does mean it’s perfect weather to get out and about on some of those coastal walks I spend all year meaning to stomp again and often don’t quite get the time…see you on the Coast Path?!
