Have a Midwinter Feast at River Cottage

'Tis the season to eat heartily...

Now don’t get me wrong, there’s an awful lot to be said for spending the week between Christmas and New Year wedged on the sofa watching yet more Christmassy films, but you have to admit, a Midwinter Feast at River Cottage’s Devon HQ sounds pretty tempting too…

Yes foodies, spaces are still available for the River Cottage Midwinter Feast on 28th December, and what better way to escape the chaos of the season than to spend a few hours in the countryside tucking in to what can only be described as some of the yummiest food in the region? The River Cottage HQ sits surrounded by 65 acres of countryside, and that means you can get some fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet before heading in to the restored barn to sample the very best seasonal produce.

You’ll be greeted at the top of the hill when you arrive and then ferried to the HQ by tractor and trailer (well how else?), where you’ll be treated to a welcome drink and canapes while you explore the farm and enjoy the views. Next, you’ll step into the barn where the chef will talk you through the menu and tell you all about what happens at River Cottage when you’re not watching it on your screens, and then it’s time to tuck in.

We would tell you what’s on the menu for the feast, but River Cottage are so determined that you’ll only dine on the freshest ingredients that they’re going to see what’s available nearer the time and then create you a culinary masterpiece that reflects the tastes of the season. They’re always happy to cater for those with special requirements too, just remember to let them know when you book your place.
