If you’re looking for days out in Devon that are as much fun for the mums and dads amongst you as they are the little ones, Darts Farm’s entertaining for the whole family. For the children, outdoor play equipment including an old tractor to sit in and animals to say hello to. For the adults, a range of gifts and homeware to peruse as well as lots of delicious food to sample and take home, and dogs are welcome in the fields on the lead.
We went to Darts Farm last Sunday morning and spent a happy half an hour walking round the field, talking to the animals and climbing on the play equipment. Much to my nieces’ delight on this occasion, there was also a bouncy castle available as a special treat.
The family friendly restaurant was perfect for all. The menu options provided a range of fresh and tasty food for brunch and my nieces showed their appreciation by noisily guzzling their yoghurt, toast and scrambled eggs. Even when my four month old nephew decided to regale the whole restaurant with his woes for at least half an hour, it didn’t stop our enjoyment. No one minded and his grizzling was accepted as part of the lively and welcoming atmosphere. Now here’s a tip: Get there early, the restaurant is very popular.
Brunch was followed by the best bit, the food and drink sampling. Whilst my brother took the children outside to play again, the rest of us wandered around the deli and artisan cellar counters trying titbits and buying little luxuries for Christmas. I came away with some lovely cheeses, some truffle oil and the biggest cauliflower I’ve ever seen – the resulting cauliflower cheese will feed me for at least a week!
