As you may have seen from Blue Chip’s Facebook and Instagram posts, my girlfriend and I recently welcomed Hector, a cockapoo puppy, into our home. And what a beauty he is (in my completely unbiased opinion…).
Hector is settling in really well and we’re loving the experience and the walking around our hometown of Brixham as a little family. That’s not to say the cold, early mornings and general mischievousness have been easy – but hey, that’s part of the fun of having a puppy, right?
We’re lucky enough to live in an amazing town, which has so many coastal and countryside walks, amazing scenery and plenty of coffee shops. Our favourite walk so far is from our house to Berry Head Nature Reserve with a stop off in The Guard House for a coffee and slice of cake – they welcome dogs both inside and out of the café and always have dog treats on hand to make sure everyone’s happy. Hector is only 4 months old, so he’s usually tired enough to sleep on The Guard House floor by the time we get there, even if he is surrounded by plenty of other dogs wanting to play!
From there, we walk down past Shoalstone Pool, one of the only outdoor seawater pools left in the country, and along Brixham marina. When the sun is out, you could be anywhere in the world! You may have guessed, but I absolutely love Brixham.
One thing we are yet to master is getting Hector swimming, though I think the sea might be getting a bit cold for it now. Having taken him to Churston Cove, Fishcombe Cove and the Breakwater Beach and thrown plenty of sticks in the water for him to get, we’re still yet to see him go for it! Hold this space…
Here’s to many more adventures with our little pup.
