Adventures await in Newquay

Discover action water adventures with the Newquay Activity Centre

Rustic, wild, rugged, beautiful, there are too many adjectives to describe Cornwall and its 400 miles of coastline. This place has a rich history of tea plundering pirates, witch hunts full of superstition and rowing lifeboat men heading into the eye of Atlantic storms. This stretch of coastline is unique and in our opinion, something to explore.

What do we do?

Newquay Activity Centre is the longest established of all Newquay surfing schools and our professional instructors are fully qualified adrenaline junkies. Coastal play is their profession. They’ll lead you on surfing, stand up paddle, bodyboarding and coasteering adventures with an environmentally responsible outlook, to get you hands-on exploring what the water has to offer whilst appreciating its splendour. The ocean is a lifestyle, this arm shaped headland the perfect playground for adventure seeking souls.

Surfing and bodyboarding

Surfing in Newquay boomed in the 1960s when Australian and American surfers travelled over looking for summer lifeguarding jobs. Their water skills were a spectacle and in the years that followed, Newquay became the UK’s cultural surfing hub. Fistral beach channels some of the best quality waves known to hit British beaches in from the Atlantic Ocean. Our ISA surf coach, bodyboard and beach lifeguard qualified instructors have been surfing for years, their experience and ability to read conditions making them capable to instruct people of all abilities and ages. As a beginner you’ll be taught beach safety, the fundamentals and etiquette of surfing and bodyboarding before hitting the water to catch some waves. You’ll never forget your first ride. Welcome to the addiction. We’re the only bodyboarding school in the UK and the coaches are sea-salted pros.

Coasteering

On the other side of Towan Headland is the Gazzle, a sheltered stretch of craggy cliff edges, deep plunge pools, caves and natural rapids. This is a natural marine assault course, 1km of pure adrenaline. Suited and booted in two wetsuits, a buoyancy aid and helmet you’ll be taught the skills to tackle these elements and lead along one of 6 routes by two coasteer leaders. Leaps, traverses, wild swimming and seal spotting; this is the ultimate coastal adventure.

We have also added a brand new and exciting element to the centre combing two of our favourite things, stand up paddle boarding and coasteering in our Super SUP + Coasteer activity! What better way to explore the coastline than commandeering our giant Stand Up Paddle board with your friends whilst taking part in one of our famous coasteer routes at the same time.

At the end of every day, our centre silently hums with energy. Adventures await you here; come and explore. To browse our Newquay holiday apartments and start planning your adventure, click here
