New to Affiliate Marketing? The affiliate channel is one of the fastest growing and innovative marketplaces to start in ecommerce. Coming from humble beginnings of small sites and projects designed as a hobby, to the large scale multi-national companies that now exist, affiliate marketing can offer you a great way to monetise an existing site, or create a site that will generate income for you. |
How it works...Once you have your site, you will then need to register with Affiliate Window, who are the network that we work with. They provide the tracking that tracks where the sales have come from. Every affiliate link on your site will have tracking on it, so when a customer clicks through, a “cookie” is dropped. A cookie is a small piece of code that remembers where the referrer was sent from. In our case, it will last for 30 days, so any sale made by that customer in that 30 day period will result in you being awarded 5% of the value of that sale. |
Types of site...Essentially, you may have a site, or are looking to set one up, that you can then use to send traffic to our site in the hope that they make a purchase and thus you will be awarded the commission. It really is as simple as that. There are a number of ways you could promote us, including: True content sites: You could set up a site based around south west tourism or holiday homes, then optimise the site to appear as high up the Google rankings as possible. Then when potential customers search the web for a holiday in the south west, your site will appear and they will go through your site to ours, thus earning you the commission on any purchase that customer makes. PPC: You may also wish to do some PPC around certain (non brand) terms that link to a landing page from which you can send traffic our way. We have many successful affiliates who operate in this way, but it can be costly for the uninitiated, so our PPC specialist would be happy to talk you through it. |
Email Marketing...Another channel that could be explored is email marketing. You will need a database to send to, and outline our products in the email with the affiliate tracking on every link. Then anyone who clicks through and books will generate some revenue for you. Review sites...These are sites where people would search for feedback from previous guests and book based on the strength of this feedback. Some very big players in this market, so very competitive. Travel blogs...This is probably the easiest way to begin in affiliate marketing. Writing an account of places you know, or have visited, with tracked links through to our site, is a very popular way of beginning in the affiliate world. Sites like Blogspot and Workpress can help you with this. |
